A couple of months ago, we set off for a weekend away camping with friends. Our destination for the weekend was Dot’s Field in the New Forest, near Fordingbridge.
We set up camp after work on the Friday evening – complete with our matching Sheltapod awnings! We were quite pleased with our set up, and have now perfected the art of putting up our Sheltapod correctly.
The next morning was gloriously sunny – so we had a leisurely breakfast and sat out in the sun, while our friends set off for a morning of sightseeing.
We’ve put quite a lot of time and effort (and money!) into the van, making it a cosy, comfortable and spacious place to spend our time – and I’m pretty pleased to announce that I think we’ve nailed it! Two tables, ample storage in our Sheltapod and lots of clever storage inside the van (thanks to Tom’s excellent DIY skills) – we’re quite proud of our homemade conversion.
Dot’s Field is a family run campsite, with basic facilities and spacious pitches. The toilet facilities were clean and perfectly good (as long as you don’t mind sharing your toilet trip with some spiders!) and we received a very warm welcome. We’d definitely recommend visiting if you’re after a reliable, quiet campsite in the New Forest.
We ended our Saturday with a spot of al fresco dining by the barbecue – halloumi, burgers and salad. A great way to end the day – but unfortunately the weather was taking quite a turn for the worse, and a storm was rolling in.
Much to our disappointment, the wind was so bad that we had to pack up camp and cut our weekend away short – the wind was bending our Sheltapod in two, and we’d already had very little sleep the night before due to the weather. So – we enjoyed our time away, but unfortunately didn’t quite last the whole weekend!
That looks such fun, tom has certainly done some good diy on the van and the sheltapod looks super inside…..nice to share a weekend with friends. Pics superb as always 🚐👍
