Exploring Vis Island, Croatia

After waking up to glorious blue water and sunny skies, we set sail from Milna and headed back out on the water and across to Vis Island.

Our first stop of the day was at an old, unused submarine facility on Vis in a little bay. We jumped in our tender and zipped into the tunnel to have a look around. The water was incredibly clear – as it was everywhere in Croatia!

After a quick blast in the tender and a look around the submarine tunnel (where we played with echoes, of course!) we hopped back aboard our catamaran and headed into Vis.

As it happens, some of Mamma Mia 2 was actually filmed in Vis – this church was in one of the scenes!

We moored up along the waterfront – which proved to be a surprisingly relaxed method of mooring – and had another excellent meal cooked by our Skipper, Joe.

We even had one of the locals sneak onboard to say hello!

After lunch Tom and I headed into the town to explore the shops, take in the sights and find some ice cream! I have to say, Vis was probably my favourite place out of everywhere we visited while we were away. It was just so beautiful!

After a couple of hours of exploring, we headed back to the catamaran to relax before dinner. I opted for the hammock, with a rather lovely view!

Dinner in Vis was at a local pizza place – and the pizza was excellent. The Croatian islands have quite a heavy Italian influence on their food, so you can expect to have excellent pizza while you’re in Croatia!
